World Environment <bdi>&</bdi> World Ocean Day Event: The Lux Collective invites Mauritian residents to join hands for a coastal clean-up

In honour of World Environment Day and World Ocean Day, global hospitality group The Lux Collective is calling on Mauritian residents to come together to help preserve the beaches and ocean on Saturday, 6 June 2026. Together with local authorities, including Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority (MTPA) and the Group’s partners, the event will feature environmental activities such as lagoon, coral reef, and beach clean-ups as well as awareness talks. The Groupwide multi-property initiative will take place across the Indian Ocean - at the Maldives (LUX* South Ari Atoll), Reunion (LUX* Saint Gilles), Zanzibar (LUX* Marijani Zanzibar), and the Group’s six resorts in Mauritius (LUX* Grand Baie, LUX* Grand Gaube, LUX* Belle Mare, LUX* Le Morne, SALT of Palmar and Tamassa Bel Ombre).

Featuring simultaneous activations across the island, the event will bring together local communities, environmental partners Eco-Sud and Save The Blu, resort teams, and guests grounded on a shared mission: Caring for the island’s coastal and marine ecosystems for future generations. Mauritian residents are invited to join this collective effort at the participating resort closest to them.

Focused on preserving coral reefs and marine habitats as well as combating ocean pollution affecting lagoons and coastal regions, each of the six resorts will feature interesting activities from scuba diving, snorkelling, and beach clean-ups, waste segregation, NGO awareness talks, and sharing sessions centred on sustainability and marine conservation. The event will also benefit from the support of experienced divers from the Mauritius Coast Guard and the SMF (Special Military Forces).

This event reflects the Group’s commitment to responsible tourism and sustainable hospitality, while engaging communities in action, together.
