LUX<bdi>*</bdi> Resorts <bdi>&</bdi> Hotels Unveils What’s New in Mauritius from 1 October 2021

To mark the full reopening of Mauritius, LUX* Resorts & Hotels presents fresh new looks and exciting experiences for guests to fully immerse in the local community and destination.

Guests can look forward to LUX* Le Morne’s lighter, brighter facelift; harvest own greens for lunch at LUX* Belle Mare’s organic farm; explore the Mauritian rum culture with LUX* Grand Gaube’s resident mixologist and a chance to get a bird’s eye view of the paradise island with LUX* Grand Baie’s unveiling offer.

LUX* Le Morne Resort Gets a Facelift

Nestled between the majestic Le Morne Brabant Mountain and one of the most picturesque lagoons in the Indian Ocean, LUX* Le Morne Resort recently underwent a facelift, offering a lighter, brighter contemporary look that blends harmoniously with the unique flora and fauna of the expansive resort grounds and surrounding environment.

The resort’s executive team, together with Studio Des Iles Architects oversaw the revitalisation project, working side-by-side with their team members to lovingly restore the 24-year-old property.

One of the many new highlights to seek out include Vik’s place, named after LUX* Le Morne’s treasured team member who has worked at the resort for 18 years. Go on a fishing trip on a traditional pirogue with Vik or learn to remove uni from freshly caught sea urchins. Vik will invite you to his communal table and share memorable moments over a glass of bubbly.

Those looking for a spot of privacy with a loved one will find the perfect hideaway at the new Tree House, tucked away in between branches, with a magnificent view of the sunset or to gaze upon the stars after dinner. Searching for the entrance of The Tree House is one of Mauritius’s best kept secrets!

Farming with the Family at LUX* Belle Mare Resort & Villas

Get your hands dirty at the Aubergine Farm, lovingly tended by the chefs at LUX* Belle Mare Resort & Villas. Aubergine Farm produces 300 kilogrammes of pesticide-free herbs, greens and fruits each month that find their way to our guests’ plates and cocktails. Just five minutes’ walk from the resort, pick up a tip or two during a tour of the greenhouses and hydroponic farms, and make your own farm-to-fork salad with freshly harvested vegetables followed by a healthy lunch on site.

A Mauritian Rum Adventure

Mauritian rum is truly reflective of island living in this paradisiacal Indian Ocean island. Go behind the scenes at Grays Rum Distillery with LUX* Grand Gaube Resort & Villas’s resident mixologist after a morning bicycle ride to the nearby sugarcane farm. Armed with newfound knowledge, guests will learn to make curated spiced rum in the resort’s tree house built on a century-old Banyan and end the evening with a rum-pairing dinner.
